Lagos pub crawl: what to expect
Lagos has one main bar street and a crawl is the quickest way to learn it. Here is how the night runs, what it costs, and who it suits.
The crawl meets in the old town, works through four or five bars on and around Rua Cândido dos Reis, and finishes at whichever place is busiest that night. The whole route is walkable in ten minutes end to end, so nobody gets left behind and you can drop out whenever you like.

- Where does a Lagos pub crawl start?
- In the old town, within a couple of minutes of Praça Luís de Camões. Everything after that is on foot along Rua Cândido dos Reis and the streets either side of it.
- How many bars?
- Usually four or five, with roughly forty minutes in each and a longer stop at the last one. The route changes with the night of the week because the bars are not all busy on the same nights.
- What is included?
- Typically a welcome drink or a shot in each bar, entry where a bar charges it, and a guide who knows the door staff. Check the operator's own page for the current inclusions.
- What does it cost?
- Crawls in the Algarve generally sit between fifteen and twenty five euros. Compared with buying four rounds yourself it is close to a wash, so you are paying for the route and the group rather than a discount.
- Is it worth doing?
- On a first night, yes. You learn which bars are worth going back to on your own, and Lagos is small enough that you can repeat the route for the rest of the trip.
- Do I need to book?
- In July and August it is worth booking ahead. Out of season you can usually turn up at the meeting point.
