The old town sits on the cliff between the fishermen's beach and the tunnel through the rock. Everything in it is walkable in an afternoon, which is why so many walking, food and tuk tuk tours use it as a base.
Anything leaving from the marina is a ten minute taxi west. Boat trips, dolphin trips and the Benagil run all go from there rather than from the beach below the old town.
